Poetic society for all active poetry lovers

A Letter to 18-year-old-me

I know you won’t like what you’re about to hear

Since you think you know best – let’s face it

You just don’t, but you’ll find that out yourself

Or you can just trust me… up to you

First of all – have you ever thought about becoming

a teacher? Sounds stupid? Think about it.

When in love, you just don’t think, at all… REALLY!

So you might just get somebody you trust to tell you

Cold showers might help as well

The one you think is the right one is NOT, just saying

So that you aren’t surprised when you find out

And it might take longer than you imagine, or not

I know you’ve heard this yet doing just ONE thing well

Is better than ten things wrong, maybe you need to discover that yourself

You’ve got a great bunch of people around you

There’s no need to worry about them letting you down

Try to trust them more because they honestly love the way you are

Take it easy and poke some fun at yourself

Life is good and you’ve got a great future ahead of you

I really like the idea (sort of reminded me of an activity called “Letter to Myself” – don’t know if it’s possible to do it on-line but we may try for real when we meet and brainstorm an on-line approach). Your poem makes one curious about the stories behind 🙂 Anyway, I do hope you still have and always will have “a great bunch of people around you”. All the best 🙂

Sure, I don’t know the activity but am really curious about it, hope we can find a way to do it online. 🙂 Haha, I don’t mind sharing the stories although they are a bit bumpy – I got plenty of learning bumps on my head 😀 I definitely do have a lot of great people around me – you and Maruška included. It’s a privilege to work with both of you! 🙂

Adam, what would you write to 40-year-old-you? 🙂 That might be interesting to read it in a few years. I am sure you’ve got a great future ahead of you (especially with our fantastic poets society 😉 )

    Thank you Adam!

Thanks, Maruš, that’s a great idea, I may write it now and then in some fifteen years and compare. 😀
